Academics that Open Doors

Every Windsor student's learning journey is a personal story of growth, curiosity, creativity, and emerging mastery.

Students solve complex problems, apply information in new ways, discuss a variety of events and topics, and form opinions supported by specific evidence. We pride ourselves on our team of high-caliber educators – experts in their fields who create independent and responsive curriculum. As students move from the Lower School Campus to the Upper School Campus, they enter a curriculum progression that flows seamlessly from Grade 6 to Grade 12. Our secondary education curriculum is U.S.-facing, building on College Board standards that are accepted and respected around the globe, ensuring that students are able to attend university anywhere in the world after graduation, whether that is in the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Caribbean or elsewhere.

As early as Grade 6, we employ the highest-level academic and critical thinking skills as outlined by the College Board. Examples of these skills include analyzing and interpreting data, understanding the quality of sources, developing an argument using evidence, contextualizing new information, and making connections.

In Grades 9-12, we build on this foundation with a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach. Around Harkness tables and in science labs, students take ownership of their own learning by asking questions, offering ideas, and listening carefully to one another to build an understanding of complex themes and problems. These practices also prepare students for important benchmarks that can open doors for their future endeavors, including the SAT, 16 different Advanced Placement courses, and BGCSEs.

Students leave Windsor prepared for a university education and to follow their passions, wherever they might lead.
